The St. Louis Children’s Illustrated Art Museum  opened on August 29, 2009. The Museum’s  gallery houses the work of a select group of children’s book illustrators from across the country, including Guy Gilchrist, Mary Engelbreit, and Astrid Sheckels. Currently on display are a large number of Astrid’s original illustrations, which include sketches,  photos, and final color illustration from The Scallop Christmas.




The Fish House Door (Islandport Press, 2010) is scheduled for release this summer. Please stay tuned for more book related news and book signing events/locations.







Past Exhibits


2009           

- South Gallery, Greenfield Community College, MA - solo alumni exhibit  featuring the original illustrations for The Scallop Christmas.

- Artspace Gallery, Artspace Community Art Center, Greenfield, MA - faculty exhibit.

2007           

- The Elusie Fine Art Gallery, Easthampton, MA - solo exhibit of recent fine art watercolor and oil paintings.

- Hosmer Art Gallery, Forbes Library, Northampton, MA - exhibit of recent children’s book illustrations in watercolor and graphite.                             

2006           

- Burnett Gallery, The Jones Library, Amherst, MA - solo exhibit of the complete illustrations for two unpublished stories.

- 9 Mill Street Gallery, Greenfield, MA - solo exhibit of charcoal drawings inspired by the neoclassical sculptures of Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen.
